If we had the ability to give this company a zero star we would. We had a salesman, Steven, came to the house to measure carpet. We chatted with him quite a bit through the sales pitch and measuring of all the rooms. Throughout this conversation he told us that he estimates 10-15% over the actual measurement in case of errors or flaws so our total price was $5000. He told us the install would take 1-2 days as it is a large amount of carpeting to tear up the old and install new.
Prime world mac. We were fine with the price and the amount of time so we signed the contract and made our down payment. Thursday April 9th, 2020 I get a text and an email to confirm installation on Monday, April 13th which I confirmed this date.
Empire Carpet, Laminate, Vinyl, Tile, & Hardwood Flooring Carpet ยป From Berber to plush, or tightly woven to pattern styles, carpeting has evolved substantially over the years. Carpets can be installed as carpet.
It's 10:30 am Monday and no one is at our house so I call and am told by customer service someone will be there before 6 pm. At about 3 pm I call again as we still have not received a call and no one is still there. On this call I am told their system is down and they don't know when it will be back up so someone should be calling me within the next day or 2 to reschedule. I am very upset as we are selling our house and have showings scheduled for Friday (which we end up cancelling as we have no idea when carpeting will be installed).
I get a call Wednesday morning at 6:21 am stating your carpet just came in on the truck and we would like to do the install today. Now that's interesting Monday their computer system was down so they couldn't install and would need to call back to reschedule once it was back up and running, but now the manager is calling stating carpet just came on the truck today and they can install today. Sounds like they can't keep the lies straight. He states installers will be there between 8-9 am, but it was after 11 am when they got there. They finished the install on Thursday afternoon. We like the carpet we picked out but we can feel the tack strips at every transition area. At the completion of the job they took 2 unused rolls of padding and a large roll of carpeting back out of the house.
They never asked my husband if he wanted it they just loading everything up and left. We were curious as to why didn't they leave that extra carpet and padding here we paid for it. If the estimation is 10-15% for waste/scrap that is like 220-330 sq ft of extra carpeting so Thursday evening we reached out to our salesman. We expressed that we would like the carpeting or a refund as by the roll the installers took out there would be enough to do another room. Steven says I will check and call you back in 5 minutes.
He did not call back so Monday I called him again and he says oh yea let me call the office. He calls us back a bit later and says someone from the office will be contacting you today. It is now Wednesday and no call from anyone, so I again reach out to Empire Today. I talk to Jocelyn, who was rude and didn't seem to care about the issue, but I still explained what happened and ask again will we be getting the carpet or a refund? She says I will need to forward you call to the local office so she puts me on hold. She comes back on the line and instead of forwarding my call says I talked to someone and they stated you will not be getting a refund or getting the carpet. If you would have paid for the carpet they would have left it.
I have a picture that was taken off our security camera of the extra carpet that 2 men carried out of the house and put back in the van. Of all that 'extra' carpet that we paid for not even a small square was left at our house. Guess they can double their money by using the carpet we paid for as 'extra' and reselling/installing in someone else's house. What a scam!!!!!
I am very frustrated with this company and would not recommend them to anyone.
